Well, New Idea Magazine for starters. New Idea was first published in 1902 and is still going strong, so it must have something going for it.
“At New Idea we are passionately devoted to producing a weekly magazine that meets the needs and interests of women in Australia. Our readers expect to be informed, entertained and enlightened. They want good value – and good values! New Idea has been loved by generations of Australia women…” wrote Kim Wilson, Editor-in-Chief of the magazine.
Now I must confess that I am not one of the many readers of the magazine, although I do take a quick glance at the cover whilst at the supermarket checkout, and it would appear that the magazine contains articles mostly on famous people, and in particular, members of the British royal family.
But in the 1970s they had really interesting articles like this one I found buried in the depths of the library the other day. I will forgive them for not being able to spell the word ‘colour’. Published 28/08/76. Check it out!!!
