“The Gathering” at Tocal 2013

“The Gathering” is an annual social event for Spinners and Weavers Guilds. Initially run by the Morisset Spinners and Weavers Guild in 2012 it is now heading for its fourth year of success and has become a fantastic opportunity for geographically isolated guilds to come together on one day a year, meet other crafts people, show off their craft, learn new techniques and generally have a great time together.

The 2013 event was hosted by the Newcastle Spinners and Weavers Guild in Tocal, in the Lower Hunter Valley, and was attended by 106 people all up, with three attendees from the Central Coast Spinners and Weavers amongst them.

During the day Guild members participated in creative yarn competitions, blind spinning and made new friends from the Spinning and Weaving community.

Take a look at the photo gallery below for images of the event (may take a moment to load, please be patient).

In 2014 “The Gathering” will be hosted in Nelson Bay, and Central Coast Guild members will again be heading to the event in force.
