Louise’s Dyeing Experiment

IMG_6719 IMG_6720 IMG_6721I have spent a couple of days playing with dyeing. Here are some of the results. Love it. The yarn was a drab yellow spun from nice tops but boring yarn so I overdyed with green and am pleased with the results. Fleeces are merino fine wool and some alpaca which started as a pale grey.  By Louise.

Louise’s Saori

Louise's Saori Weaving
Here is our Lovely Louise, all smiles with her piece in 3 hours on the Saori Loom.  She was so happy and found it so very relaxing. Louise used part of her stash of home spun wool.  She will have to do lots of weaving to use her stash! I do not think this will be the last that Louise will see of the Saori. A wonderful piece Louise. By Lyn A.

Woven Rug and Cushion Covers

Lyn's SaoriLyn's Saori Cushion Cover
These pieces were woven on a Saori loom.  My Sister-In-Law wanted a rug for just in front of the TV.  I did up a few pieces and she fell in love with it.  The rug is 220cm long x 80cm wide.  I made 4 pieces in the lighter colour and the area only wanted 2.  I did like the look of at least 3 panels for the effect  of the pattern to look more in tune, however this is exactly what Judy wanted and some of the darker pieces are being made into 4 Cushion covers, along with
a full Table Runner.  It was all made from Hand Spun Wool and lots of the grey is Alpaca.  The Warp was Black and done on 40cm warp.  It does look great and she had been searching for what she wanted for ages.  This is exactly it, so another great story.

Ruth’s Scarf

Ruth's Scarf
Ruth is one of our newest members.  She normally comes along on a Tuesday and is learning to spin.  This week, Ruth decided to pop in to the felting day.  Here she is with a beautiful white on white, Nuno felted scarf.  Ruth’s first go at it and how lovely it looks on her.
